David R. Preston is a patent attorney and our founder. David is a detail-oriented Intellectual Property attorney with domestic and foreign experience including patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and research and development agreements. David’s skills include legal, technical, organizational, personal interaction and training. David has experience with the Federal Government (former patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and former Technology Development Specialist with the National Cancer Institute, National Institute of Health), the Federal Courts (former intern to the U.S. Court of Appeal for the Federal Circuit and U.S. District Court, Eastern District of New York (by designation)), biotechnology law firms and biotechnology companies, and is motivated by adding value to technology and assisting in taking valuable technologies to the market.

David is admitted to practice in California, U.S. Patent & Trademark Office, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the United States District Court, Central District of California, and the United State District Court, Southern District of California.

James Fleming is affiliated as “of counsel” and is involved in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications focusing in the area of biotechnology.

James began his law career as a legal intern at the law firm of Takaishi & Takai in Tokyo, Japan where he advised his clients on matters involving business contracts and transactional issues. Prior to affiliating with us, James worked as an attorney focusing on litigation and administrative law.

James is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
